UNS S31254 254SMO High molybdenum content and high chromium and nitrogen content make UNSS31254 extremely good resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. The addition of copper improves corrosion resistance in certain acids. In addition, UNSS31254 has good resistance to stress corrosion cracking due to its high nickel content and high chromium and molybdenum content.


1. A large number of field experiments and extensive use experience show that even at slightly higher temperatures, UNSS31254 has high crevice corrosion resistance in seawater, and only a few types of stainless steel have this performance.


2. The corrosion resistance of UNSS31254 in acid solutions and oxidative halide solutions such as those required for paper bleaching production is comparable to the most corrosion-resistant nickel-based alloys and titanium alloys.


3. Due to the high nitrogen content of UNSS31254, its mechanical strength is higher than other types of austenitic stainless steels. In addition, UNSS31254 has high ductility and impact strength and good weldability.


4. The high molybdenum content of UNSS31254 enables it to have a higher oxidation rate during annealing, resulting in a rougher surface than ordinary stainless steel after pickling. But this has no detrimental effect on the corrosion resistance of the steel.
